Srinagar, Apr 02 (KNO): The Government of India has allocated significant funds for the development of Panchayat infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under the Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) and the Revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
The information as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) was provided in response to a question in the Lok Sabha by Manju Sharma.
In Jammu & Kashmir, 970 Panchayat Bhawans have been approved for the current year (2024-25), while in Ladakh, 3 Bhawans have been sanctioned.
Also, J&K has received a significant number of 1000 computers for enhancing digital infrastructure at the Panchayat level in the past year, with further allocations planned.
Regarding the Fifteenth Finance Commission Grants, Jammu & Kashmir received Rs 2819.24 Crore in 2023-24, with Rs 3520 Crore allocated for the current fiscal year.
In Ladakh, Rs. 318.91 Crore was allocated in the last fiscal year, and the state has been included in the efforts to strengthen Panchayat institutions under the central schemes.
